Thinking Outside the Box Unlocks $164,000 for Vulnerable Families in Rural Communities

The Southeast Social Pediatric Centre provides specialized, multidisciplinary support to children and families living in vulnerable conditions across rural francophone communities in New Brunswick. Children from birth to 18 are supported by doctors, social workers, and a network of support partners who work closely with families to get them the resources they need to thrive. By thinking outside the box, the Centre ensures families receive holistic, personalized care.

The Challenge

Starting over in a new leadership role, Executive Director Line Rioux faced the daunting task of getting the Centre’s operations organized while also securing funding to keep programs running. She approached Do Gooders for guidance, seeking support to navigate the grant landscape and ensure the Centre’s story and impact were communicated effectively.

The Approach

Do Gooders provided end-to-end support, helping Line prioritize funding opportunities and guiding her through the entire grant process. From the initial 8-hour Grant Research Value Bundle to full grant writing support, the Do Gooders team guided Line through every step, crafting applications efficiently, accurately, and persuasively to maximize funding, thus freeing her to focus on leading the Centre’s day-to-day operations.

The Outcome

Working with Do Gooders, Southeast Social Pediatric Centre secured $164,000 in funding across five grants. This investment has allowed the Centre to:

  • Launch group services, reaching more families and children than ever before
  • Train the entire team on the “how to talk so kids will listen, and how to listen so kids will talk” program
  • Prepare to soundproof existing walls to enhance privacy for families during sensitive conversations
  • Plan the addition of sensory items for children with special needs or special sensory challenges

For Line Rioux, the experience stood out because of how supported she felt while navigating a busy and demanding role. She shares:

“Working with the Do Gooders team is very easy. The contracts are easy to read. The contracts I receive fast, I send them back fast, and within a few weeks the projects are done and sent to the grants that I’m looking for. Very simple, easy, and very friendly as well. I would 100% recommend Do Gooders to others.”

Looking Ahead

Southeast Social Pediatric Centre is now well-positioned to expand programs, provide group services to more families, and better support children with diverse needs. Do Gooders is proud to have played a part in this success. By combining grant expertise with practical, hands-on support, we enable charities, not-for-profits and Indigenous Nations to maximize funding potential and focus on the communities they serve.
